Club WC 25 Semi-Finals Preview

We’re nearing the end of the Club WC, with only the semi-finals and final left to play, but which teams will face each other in the final? Join us as we take a closer look at the two semi-finals!

Fluminense vs. Chelsea

MetLife Stadium, Tuesday @ 21:00 CET

Fluminense will have to accept the role of underdogs in this semi-final against Chelsea, but it’s probably a role they’ll be happy to take on as they fight for a spot in the Club WC final.

The Brazilian team, led by captain Thiago Silva, have been impressive so far in this tournament, and they are yet to lose a match. Their 2-0 win against Inter in the Round of 16 was a major upset, and despite Al-Hilal controlling possession in the quarter-finals, it was Fluminense who ran out 2-1 winners in the end.

Juan Pablo Freytes and Martinelli, who scored one of their goals in the quarter-finals, are both out with a suspension due to having picked up a yellow card in the quarter-finals.

Chelsea might have been lucky with the draw in the tournament so far, but you can only beat the teams you are facing. On Tuesday, they’re up against another Brazilian team, and Maresca’s team are odds favourites in this one.

João Pedro had a positive impact as a substitute for his debut in the quarter-finals and the Chelsea fans are hoping to see their new player make an impact again in their next match. Caicedo is back from suspension, but their new striker Liam Delap and Colwill are both out with suspensions for this one.

It’s the first time these two teams face each other in a competitive match, and the prize is a spot in the Club WC final!

PSG vs. Real Madrid

MetLife Stadium, Wednesday @ 21:00

PSG have been on fire in the Club WC, and their 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals means they have now only conceded one goal in 5 matches so far in the tournament. Real Madrid is their next challenge, with both teams aiming to lift the trophy.

Luis Enrique will have to do without both Pacho and Lucas Hernandez for this one, as they’re both out with suspensions.

The French side are narrow odds favourites, and they’d love to win another major title, having beaten Inter 5-0 in the CL final in late May. That was the first time they ever lifted the coveted trophy, and judging by their form in this tournament, it only made them hungrier for more.

Real Madrid have also had a good tournament, despite Mbappe missing the early part of the tournament due to illness. They drew against Al-Hilal in their opening match, but they’ve also scored 3 goals in 3 of their 5 matches.

Dean Huijsen will miss out on the semi-final due to a suspension following his late red card in the quarter-finals, but other than that, Real Madrid are looking strong. Top scorer Gonzalo Garcia is hoping to add more goals to the four he has already scored in the tournament.

With two teams that embrace attacking football, we could be in for a lot of goals on Wednesday as these two powerhouses battle it out for a place in the final!
